Margarita is a beautiful island in the Caribbean that belongs to Venezuela. Before you go there, it is better to find out information about the beaches in order to understand which one you want to live on. You can fly to the island from the capital of Venezuela, Caracas, or from the city of Maracaibo. You can also get from Caracas by ferry, but this method is not recommended as the city is unsafe, especially for tourists.

Step 1
El Agua
A fairly long beach in the east of the island, the most popular among residents of Caracas and other cities of mainland Venezuela who come here for the weekend. There are hotels and private pasadas (guesthouses), restaurants on the seashore. However, most of these restaurants have been closed recently. The waves on the beach are almost always moderate.
Step 2
Parkita
Located within walking distance from El Agua beach. The beach is much shorter, but more picturesque. There are quite large waves here, good for surfing.
Step 3
El Yake
The safest beach for tourists, guarded by the police. It is small, but perhaps the most famous on Margarita. It is a mecca for windsurfers and kiters. Thanks to the stable wind, there are excellent conditions for learning and practicing these sports almost all year round. Athletes from all over the world come here, and it is here that world championships are held. On the coast there are wind and kitesurfing schools with Russian instructors. Well-developed infrastructure makes your stay comfortable, even if you do not practice water sports. There are hotels in different price categories.
Step 4
Playa Moreno
This is the city beach of Porlamar. It is quite small and not popular among tourists, as it is not particularly picturesque.
Step 5
Playa Manzanio
A beach located in a small bay in the west of the island. There is also a fishing village. A sparse beach with calm waters without waves.
Step 6
Playa Caribe
Located near the town of Juan Griego. There are waves here. And a good selection of restaurants where you can taste fresh seafood and drink tropical cocktails.
Step 7
Coche Island Beach
Coche is a separate small island near Margarita. Boats leave from El Yaque Beach every morning. You can return until 17 o'clock. On Koch there is fine light sand, a transparent sea without waves, and there is also a wind. Therefore, kitesurfers also like to go here.
