The capital of the Tyumen region is the 19th most populous city in the Russian Federation, 4 in the whole of Siberia and 3 in the Urals Federal District. Other neighbors of the region: the Komi Republic from the northwest, the Krasnoyarsk Territory along the entire eastern extent, the Tomsk region from the southeast, the Omsk region from the south and Kurgan, which is located from the southwest.
In addition, Tyumen is a very important transport hub of the famous Transsib or Sverdlovsk railway. This fact, as well as oil deposits, made this city strategically important for Russia, the state structure and the country's economy many years ago.
Tyumen and the region adjacent to this city are included in the so-called time zone of Yekaterinburg time, that is, the discrepancy between the position of the hands on the Tyumen clock with Moscow is two hours.
