In 2017, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation made changes to the rules for air transportation by Russian airlines. After this innovation, many passengers were able to save on luggage transportation and take with them to the cabin not only the most necessary things, but also, for example, all sorts of small household appliances.
It is now possible to carry from 5 to 15 kg of items as carry-on luggage, depending on the rules of a particular airline. At the same time, it is allowed to take with you to the salon not only a bag or a briefcase, but also a backpack.
Can a hairdryer be transported?
It is best to put such household appliances, and especially if they are expensive, in a backpack and take them with you in the cabin. According to the transportation rules of the Ministry of Transport, passengers can carry as carry-on baggage:
- any food, with the exception of liquids and jelly-like products;
- medicines;
- digital and household appliances;
- valuables, jewelry, documents;
- cosmetics;
- personal hygiene items;
- clothes and accessories.
Since a hairdryer is a household appliance, you can take it with you to the aircraft cabin. It is allowed to carry as carry-on luggage and curling irons or hair irons. It is also not prohibited to carry electric toothbrushes, razors, epilators, etc. in the salon.
The only thing that needs to be taken care of when putting such things in a backpack is that the weight and dimensions of the latter do not exceed the permissible parameters. Each company has its own rules on this matter. For example, Aeroflot allows the carriage of hand luggage weighing up to 10 kg and measuring 55x40x25 cm.
What cannot be transported
According to the existing rules, it is not allowed to take with you into the aircraft cabin:
- weapons and dummies for it;
- explosive items;
- pets;
- piercing and cutting objects;
- construction tools and equipment;
- sport equipment.
Hair dryers in the cabin can therefore be transported. But in no case should you put a manicure set in a backpack or bag. These accessories must be checked in as checked baggage. Manicure scissors, nail files or tweezers are classified as sharp-edged objects, and therefore should not be taken to the salon.
Sprays and deodorants in pressurized cans may also not be transported as carry-on baggage. Such items are supposed to be checked in baggage. In this case, you first need to make sure that the can cannot be classified as explosive, that is, it does not contain chemically active components and there is no fire sign on it. Otherwise, you should not take the aerosol with you on a trip at all.
