The heroes of the popularly beloved fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm "The Bremen Town Musicians", a rooster, a donkey, a dog and a cat have been making children and adults laugh for more than a century, forget about all the troubles and enjoy life. The sculptures installed in their honor in various parts of the world remind of childhood, music and all the most beautiful things.
Riga monument
In Riga, in the Old Town, there is one of the monuments dedicated to the "Bremen Town Musicians". It is located near Skarnu Street, opposite the Convention Courtyard. The sculpture consists of four fairy-tale characters: a donkey, holding a dog on it, that one - a cat, well, he became a support for a rooster. This is exactly what the characters looked like when they tried to look through the window of the forest robbers.
The sculpture was a gift from the city of Bremen to the city of Riga. Its creator was the Bremen sculptor Christ Baumgartel, who created his masterpiece in 1990. There is a popular belief among modern tourists that if you rub the nose of a donkey and make a wish, then it will certainly come true. The noses of other animals are also capable of fulfilling any dreams of those who rub them. Well, the most cherished desire turns into reality a rooster, which is extremely difficult to reach. But this does not stop those who want to try their luck.
Sculpture in Bremen
The monument to the Bremen Town Musicians, which is located in the city of Bremen and is its symbol, became the prototype of the above-described sculpture. In the center of Bremen is the creation of the hands of Gerhard Marx. All four bronze heroes climbed on each other's backs and closely watch the restless robbers. It was this idea of Herr Marx that found its reflection in the skill of Baumgartel.
And a few more creations
German Zulpich decided to keep up with other cities and presented its inhabitants with a pyramid of world famous fairy-tale characters. In general, Germany became the record holder among those who immortalized the memory of a donkey, dog, cat and rooster. One of the elements of the fountain near the Weidspeicher theater in Erfurt is the famous four.
A dog, a cat and a cockerel (it is not known where they lost their donkey) joyfully greet visitors to the park in the city of Fürth.
Russian Krasnoyarsk in 2006 also presented an architectural masterpiece to its population. He found a place near the May 1 Palace of Culture. The monument was created by local sculptor Alexander Tkachuk. The sculpture is known for the fact that it can be contemplated three times a day with audio accompaniment. From the speakers people are greeted by the crowing of a rooster and a verse of a famous song.
In addition, such Russian cities as Khabarovsk, Sochi, St. Petersburg, Lipetsk were also noted among the admirers of musicians from Bremen. A distinctive feature of Russian architectural compositions is the presence of the Troubadour in the company of the animals. The sculptures owe this to the magnificent Soviet cartoon.
