You can start your acquaintance with the Lithuanian capital Vilnius from the very heart of the city - its center. In the center of Vilnius there is an unusually friendly atmosphere: street musicians, young people sitting on green lawns, and benevolent pensioners at the tables of small cafes harmoniously coexist here. From the Cathedral Square, small cozy streets run around them, along which it is a pleasure to walk.

Among them, one of the most beautiful is Pilies Street (Zamkovaya), passing along which you will not pass the Church of St., artists, poets and artists. And if you climb the Castle Hill, and then the Gedeminas Tower - a symbol of Lithuanian statehood, you will have a stunning view of the entire old city.

The uninitiated, seeing the Hill of Crosses for the first time, may think that this is a cemetery. However, it is not. The place where the Hill of Crosses is located was cult and sacred even in the days of paganism. The belief that those who pray here for something intimate will definitely be lucky, obviously - judging by the number of crosses - works to this day.

Now, if you wander around the mountain for a while, you can see crosses of the most varied and bizarre shapes - from ancient, carved, to those combining the unity of beliefs: a Magendavid with a cross, for example. By the way, despite the fact that this place is most popular, of course, in the Catholic world, especially after Pope John Paul II put the cross here, Christians of other confessions and representatives of other religions leave their crosses and / or prayers here.

Speaking about Lithuania, it is impossible not to mention Palanga - one of the most beautiful resort towns in the Baltic States. But, in addition to the numerous beaches, for which, of course, it is worth going, Palanga is simply a must to visit in order to discover the wonderful Amber Museum, located in the former Tyshkevich Palace, and the joy of all dog lovers - the Dog Museum.

Lovers of theatrical art will find interesting theaters and performances in any city of Lithuania, but there is one of the theaters, without visiting which, you will deprive yourself of meeting with a real, bright modern theater. While in Lithuania, one cannot but visit, as well as the Hill of Crosses, probably. Since, despite its comparative youth - the theater was founded in 1999 - it can already be called a cult place in modern Lithuania.
