Stockholm is the capital of Sweden, one of the most beautiful and distinctive cities in Europe with almost 800 years of history and a rich cultural life. It is located on 14 islands, which are connected by 57 bridges. Stockholm is famous for its ecology - the air here is clean, since a third of the city is occupied by buildings, while the remaining two-thirds are green parks and reservoirs. And the purity of the water is generally the national pride of the Swedes: every year at the festival the king himself publicly scoops and drinks a mug of water from Lake Mälaren. By the way, in Stockholm you can observe the unique phenomenon of mixing the salty sea water of Saltsjön Bay and the fresh water of Lake Mälaren. The Swedish capital is famous for its museums and attractions. Spending a few days in Stockholm can be very interesting and informative.

Old town Gamla Stan
An ancient medieval architectural ensemble with narrow cobbled streets - the narrowest street, Mårten Trotzigs Gränd, is only 90 centimeters wide: you can shake hands from the windows of houses on opposite sides of the street! There are many souvenir shops, artisan shops and cozy cafes in the old town.

Royal Palace (Kungliga slottet)
This is the official residence of the Swedish kings, located in the Old Town on the embankment of Stadholmen Island. The Royal Palace was rebuilt several times, the construction of the last version was completed in 1760. Not so long ago, the royal family stopped using the palace as a permanent place of residence, preferring a country residence, and monarchs come to the palace on special occasions. On a tour of the Royal Palace, you can learn in detail about the history of the Swedish royal family and the history of the country as a whole. On the square in front of the palace, the real show is the changing of the guard.

Stockholm City Hall (Stockholms stadshus)
The Town Hall, a symbol of Stockholm, was built on the island of Kungsholm relatively recently - in 1923. The City Hall hosts meetings of the municipality with 101 members, so that there is always at least one vote in the voting). But the main thing that Stockholm City Hall is famous for is the annual celebrations of the Nobel Prizes. In the Blue Hall of the Town Hall, a Nobel Banquet is held, after which a ball begins in the Golden Hall, where members of the royal court, Nobel laureates and guests dance. The Town Hall restaurant offers dishes from the Nobel banquets of all past years, but this event is very expensive. You can climb to the 106-meter observation deck of the town hall tower, which offers a stunning view of the whole of Stockholm.

Vasa Ship Museum
This is an amazing story! In the summer of 1628, a Swedish warship, made according to the drawings of the king himself, was launched. This ship was supposed to become the flagship of the Swedish fleet, but due to errors in the calculations, it capsized a few hundred meters from the coast and sank. Almost the entire team was killed. For about 300 years, the ship lay at the bottom of the sea, and only in 1961 a long and painstaking work began to extract it to the surface of the water, treat it with special preservative chemicals, restore it and deliver it to land. This process took several decades, a building for the Vasa ship museum was specially built on the island of Djurgården, and it was only in 1990 that the museum opened its doors to visitors.

Junibacken
Junibakken is a kind of fabulous museum, cultural and entertainment complex for children and adults; the name of the museum translates as "June Hill", a settlement from the work of Astrid Lindgren, who herself took part in the creation of the museum. Junibakken is located on the island of Djurgården. Here you will find many models of interiors from the fairy tales of Swedish writers - Astrid Lindgren, Tove Jansson, Elsa Beskov and others. You can go into the houses and touch everything in them, you can sit on vehicles (airplane, car, motorcycle) - in a word, a great play atmosphere has been created for children of all ages. Well, traveling on a fabulous train, which suddenly turns into a cabin flying over the "abyss", is a wonderful opportunity to plunge into the world of Astrid Lindgren's fairy tales and even visit Carlson's house. Train tours are conducted in various languages, including Russian - this must be agreed in advance when purchasing a ticket. Junibakken has a book and gift shop, a cafe, and daily entertainment events for children.

ABBA Group Museum
ABBA is a legendary Swedish musical quartet, which included Agneta Feltskog, Bjorn Ulveus, Benny Andersson, Anni-Fried Lingstad. The name of the quartet is an abbreviation from the first letters of the names of the participants. The ABBA quartet existed for only 10 years (from 1972 to 1982), but left its mark on world music for centuries. Confirmation of this is the museum of the ABBA group in Stockholm on the island of Djurgården, opened in May 2013 in the new building of the exhibition complex “Swedish Music Hall of Fame”. The museum contains photographs, costumes, personal belongings, musical instruments and other exhibits provided by the group members themselves or collected from around the world. Tickets to the museum are expensive: $ 30 for adults, $ 6, $ 5 for children. Interestingly, tickets are not sold for cash, only through a bank card.
