One of the most famous landmarks in Madrid is the Prado Museum, whose collections can outshine even the Louvre. The works of true geniuses are placed here and presented to the eyes of visitors. Mention may be made, for example, of Goya, Velazquez and El Greco.
Even taking into account all the luxury of the Prado Museum, after arrival you should not rush to take a queue. In order to feel the atmosphere of the capital, it is best to go to the Royal Palace. This building is not inferior in pomp and luxury to Versailles itself, but its special feature is the Spanish heaviness inherent in all ancient buildings in Madrid.
Near the palace, a truly gigantic size of the Cathedral of the Holy Virgin Mary de la Almudena stretches for almost an entire quarter. It is worth mentioning that this majestic and even pathetic cathedral was built for over 100 years and was completed quite recently - in 1993.
Also, a tourist should definitely visit the Plaza Mayor, because it is here that most of the souvenir shops, living statues, street musicians and artists are located.
