The courtyard of a residential building in St. Petersburg became popular by accident. Heroes of your favorite cartoons appeared in it, which simply decorate the local area. Over time, the courtyard became a real landmark of the city.
You can take pictures with the heroes of your favorite cartoons in St. Petersburg, at 11 Zakharyevskaya Street (you cannot see the courtyard from the street, you must go through the arch of house 11). It runs perpendicular to Liteiny Prospekt and can be reached on foot from the Chernyshevskaya station (distance 950 m.). On the maps the courtyard is marked in different ways, on Yandex it is called "Cartoons", on Google - "The courtyard of your favorite cartoons." It will appeal to connoisseurs of Soviet cartoons, unusual sights and those who are often nostalgic.
There are no ground transport stops on Zakharyevskaya Street (it is located closer to the Neva, you can walk from Shpalernaya Street and Chernyshevsky Avenue), the nearest stop is Chaikovskogo Street, located on Liteiny (buses K-107, K-258, K-177, trolleybuses 3, eight). The landmark is the Big House - a landmark located at Liteiny Prospekt, 4.
Until 2018, the courtyard was the most ordinary one, it was formed by several houses. The deputies of the Municipal Formation of the Foundry District decided to improve the courtyard and install figures of heroes from their favorite cartoons. Its opening took place in October 2018, according to local media reports. Gradually, the courtyard became popular with tourists; reviews are often written about it on various sites and blogs.
The figurines are made of durable materials, taking into account the capricious St. Petersburg weather. Residents of nearby houses take good care of the new inhabitants of the courtyard, but there are people who are trying to destroy the cartoon characters.
Who lives in the yard?
Smeshariki, three heroes and a horse Julius do not "live" in the yard. Here you can see the main characters of three famous Soviet cartoons. It is not known what justified the choice of these particular characters, perhaps they are the most popular (there are new modern versions of "Well, wait!" And Prostokvashino).
The closest to house 11 are the wolf and the hare from Well, wait a minute! Both heroes sit on benches, but not next to each other. You can take a picture with a wolf, or you can take a picture with a hare (who likes which character more). The figures are conveniently located, there is a lot of free space next to them and the benches fully fulfill their main functions (it is very difficult to sit next to the wolf on both sides).
Next to them is an owl and Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore's donkey is also there (he is very sad and inconspicuous). In the courtyard you can see the heroes of the Prostokvashino cartoon (not the modern version), but Leopold the cat is not here. The postman Pechkin is depicted with the cat Matroskin, and Uncle Fedya and Sharik stand separately.
Winnie the Pooh is depicted with Piglet, but the figure is small. It (like the others) is intended for children, not for tourists.
It is a pity that not all the heroes of old cartoons have settled in the courtyard and there are no similar courtyards in the city yet. It seems to me that Kol Leopold, Cheburashka and Gena the crocodile would fit well into the composition.
