To cross the Ukrainian border, those traveling to Ukraine from Russia or, on the contrary, from Ukraine to Russia, do not need to have a passport. However, the peculiarities of crossing the border by land, by air and by sea (through the Kerch Strait) exist, and they must be known and observed.
Instructions
Step 1
If you are traveling by train
There will be control on both sides of the border. If you are heading from Russia to Ukraine, then first you will be checked by Russian border guards and customs officers (even on the territory of the Russian Federation), and then by Ukrainian ones (on their territory). Accordingly, when traveling from Ukraine to Russia, the opposite is true.
The border guards will ask you:
- passports (for all adults);
- birth certificates of minor children (must be original) with a mark (stamp) of citizenship or an attachment coupon-insert about citizenship;
- in the absence of parents (for example, a child is traveling with a grandmother), the presence of parental consent to leave, certified by a notary, is mandatory.
Customs officers will ask you what you are taking. Are there any drugs among your belongings, potent drugs (there is a list of permitted and prohibited for import, you can familiarize yourself with it in advance), hidden currency, etc. They have the authority to check your baggage for drugs and hazardous substances. Sometimes a specially trained dog is put into the carriage for this purpose.
If you are a citizen of Russia entering Ukraine, you will be given a migration card confirming the legality of your stay in a foreign country (and, conversely, a citizen of Ukraine entering Russia will be issued a migration card for the right to stay in Russia). The card must be taken care of; it must be returned on the way back. If you lose, you will have to pay a fine.
Step 2
If you are traveling by bus
At the border, all passengers will collect passports and enter the data into a computer. Everything else is similar to crossing the Ukrainian border by train.
Step 3
If you are flying by plane
Verification of all documents - civil passports, birth certificates of children with inserts of citizenship and a notarized consent for the departure of the child's parents, if he is not traveling with them - takes place at the airports of departure and arrival. Baggage is also checked there.
Step 4
If you are crossing the Ukrainian border by ferry across the Kerch Strait
Documents and baggage checks are also carried out on both sides of the border - in the port of Kavkaz and in the port of Crimea. The list of documents is the same as for other methods of crossing the border - by land and by air.
Step 5
If you cross the Ukrainian border with a private car (scooter, motorcycle, etc.)
At the border, you must go to the border control window on both sides of the border crossing yourself, holding all the necessary documents in your hands. In addition to those mentioned above, a motorist must present a driver's license, an OSAGO policy, a certificate of registration of a vehicle, a Green Card, including Ukraine in the territory of action. If you are traveling with a power of attorney, then keep in mind that a handwritten power of attorney is not valid in Ukraine. This must be a serious document certified by a notary.
Otherwise, the procedure for border and customs control is similar to all other methods of crossing the Ukrainian border.
