Our planet abounds in places that attract many people. These are beautiful lakes, grandiose waterfalls, and majestic mountains - in a word, various natural objects that make a very strong aesthetic impression. It is truly a difficult task to list the most interesting places on Earth, because there are so many of them! In addition, the concept of "interesting" is different for each person.

Giant canyon and meteorite crater

The most enthusiastic words deserve the Grand Canyon (Grand Canyon), located in the western United States, in the state of Arizona. It is about 450 kilometers long, and in some places it reaches a depth of almost 2 kilometers. For many millions of years, due to the impact of the waters of the Colorado River and wind erosion, bizarre rocks and cliffs have formed along the entire river bed, with clearly distinguishable alternating stripes of multi-colored sedimentary rocks. This is just a grand spectacle, especially in the rays of the rising or setting sun.

Over 4 million people visit this natural wonder every year. Rafting on the Colorado River on inflatable rafts is very popular among tourists.

In the same state of Arizona, there is another remarkable place - the famous crater, about 1200 meters in diameter and over 200 meters deep. This is a trace from the impact of a relatively small meteorite (according to scientists, the dimensions of the "celestial alien" did not exceed 50 meters in diameter). Nevertheless, the amount of released energy was equal to the explosion energy of about 8000 atomic bombs, similar to that that was dropped on Hiroshima.

This is far from the largest crater found on Earth, but due to its good preservation and relatively easy accessibility, it has become very popular.

Great lakes and mountains of the planet

A real miracle of nature is the deepest lake in the world - Baikal, located in Eastern Siberia. Stretching from north to south in the form of a gigantic narrow crescent with a length of almost 620 kilometers (the approximate distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg), Baikal contains one fifth of all the world's fresh lake water reserves. It is deeper than all 5 North American Great Lakes combined

The shores of the lake are very beautiful, and many species of local flora and fauna are endemic (that is, they are not found anywhere else). Local residents respectfully call Baikal the sea.

It rarely happens that the name of a natural object exactly matches its appearance. The famous Table Mountain off the coast of South Africa from a great distance really looks like a tabletop, horizontal and flat. The effect is amplified by the sharp peaks on both sides of the Table Mountain.

This is just the shortest list. After all, there are many interesting, exciting places on Earth!
