Step 1
You can come to North Korea only as part of an economic or political delegation. You will first need to register on the Korean government website with your details and party affiliation. You will need a visa; note that it is reluctant to give it out to journalists, writers, military personnel and law enforcement officials. Citizens of certain states also have few chances: the USA, Israel, South Korea. Trying to get a visa on your own, without contacting travel agencies associated with North Korean tourism organizations, is pointless. In addition, sometimes the borders of the country are completely closed to foreigners.
Step 2
You can get to North Korea by plane: there are regular flights from Beijing (2-3 times a week), from Vladivostok and Khabarovsk (once a week), arriving at Sunan International Airport (23 kilometers from Pyongyang). Charter flights from Moscow are carried out 3-4 times a year - this happens during the national holidays of Korea. There are also regular trains: Beijing-Pyongyang, Moscow-Pyongyang. The latter are direct cars running as part of the Moscow-Beijing trains; they depart from the Yaroslavsky railway station in Moscow once a week (a train going through Chita, Harbin and Shenyang) and once every two weeks (a train that bypasses China through Khabarovsk and Ussuriisk).
Step 3
It is impossible to independently get to Korea by car or bus, as well as by ship. There is, however, a small chance that you will manage to get into an organized tourist group from South Korea.
Step 4
Remember that the import of mobile phones into Korea is prohibited - when you enter the country, your phone will be confiscated from you for storage or sealed. Mobile communication is prohibited in principle, international communication is extremely expensive, it can be used only in large cities. It is also prohibited to import navigation equipment, telescopes and binoculars, professional film and photographic lenses, anti-North Korean literature, and pornographic products. Import and export of North Korean money is strictly prohibited!
