Hainan is an island located in the south of China. This is one of the most visited places in China by foreign tourists. Tropical climate, unique nature, good ecology and interesting local attractions: all this allows you to have a good rest. Despite the fact that most tourists go to Hainan for beach vacations and diving, there are plenty of attractions on the island.
Cities and infrastructure
The main reason tourists come to Hainan is the nature of the island. Almost all the sights on it are natural. Due to the fact that the island lies at the same latitude as the Hawaiian Islands, it is sometimes called the Chinese Hawaii. The sea water is clean and clear, and the beaches are covered with fine white sand.
The capital of the island is Haikou, and the largest tourist center is Sanya. As a rule, it is cheaper to get to Haikou from other countries, and from there you can go to Sanya. The two cities are connected by a high-speed rail link (travel time by train is 1.5 hours) and a highway (by bus, the journey will take 3.5 hours). The main number of tourists aspires to Sanya, because the island of Hainan is covered with mountains on three sides of its coast, and there is an open sea coast only near this city.
Natural beauty
The underwater world off the coast of the island is rich and diverse, so don't miss the opportunity to scuba dive to enjoy the diversity of natural forms. The island has a number of thermal springs known for their medicinal properties.
You should definitely see the crater of Ma'an volcano, which is located just 20 km from Haikou. The volcano has not been active for a long time, so you can easily look into its crater. Amazing views and thrilling experiences are guaranteed. Also not far from Haikou is the Dongshan Tropical Wildlife Park. There you can see representatives of more than 4000 species of the animal world, and several hundred of them are quite exotic. Monkey Island is another interesting natural park. Its area is about 10 sq. km, monkeys live there in absolutely natural conditions. And you can get to the island by cable car, which is hung right above the sea!
To enjoy the stunning panoramic views, be sure to climb Wrapped Deer Mountain. There are several viewing platforms on the mountain, with very different views. The mountain is also known as the most romantic place on the island.
Center for Buddhism
A visit to the Nanshan Buddhism Center is of great interest. Even if you are not a religious person, the atmosphere of peace and tranquility prevailing there, as well as the amazing architecture will amaze you. There are several different temples on the territory of the complex, and in one of them there is a statue of the goddess Guanyin, cast from gold and decorated with gems.
A visit to the temple complex is paid, like most of Hainan's attractions, including natural ones. As a rule, a child's ticket costs half the price of an adult.
