Togliatti is a city in the Samara region, which was founded in 1737 and until 1964 was called Stavropol. But until now, the administrative territory with Togliatti in the center has retained its old name - Stavropol District. Unlike Samara, the city is located on the left side of the Volga River, and its population, according to estimates at the beginning of 2014, was 718, 127 thousand people.

The distance along the Volga River from Togliatti to the regional capital is 70 kilometers. The location of the city is the steppe plateau, located on the left bank of the Kuibyshev reservoir (slightly north of the Samarskaya Luka nature reserve).
In addition to the Stavropol region, Togliatti also borders on the city of Zhigulevsky. The city covers an area of 314, 78 square kilometers with an average population density of 2, 287 thousand people on the same "square". On the northern and western sides of Togliatti are surrounded by agricultural fields, the city itself is divided into the New and Old parts, between which there are dense forests.
Togliatti, like Samara, have been in the same time zone as Moscow since March 28, 2010, when Russian President D. A. Medvedev signed a decree on the transition of the entire Samara region to Moscow time.

From the capital of the Samara region and its Central Bus Station, regular buses to Togliatti leave literally every 15 minutes. These are regular large buses and fixed-route taxis that travel to three different final destinations - the Old Town and two bus stations in the New Town.
Unfortunately, there are no railroad tracks near Togliatti. Therefore, if you need to get from this city to some other point exactly on the trains of JSC "Russian Railways", then you will either need to get to the Samara railway station or to the railway station in the city of Syzran.
The distance from Samara to Togliatti is 88 kilometers, which at night can be mastered by car in just an hour, and during daylight hours - in 2-3 or more hours, since the regional capital is now literally overcrowded with cars and traffic jams. The situation is similar on the highway between the two cities, since, due to the proximity to the Volga and Sok rivers, a large number of settlements, villages, cottages and summer cottages are concentrated around it.
If you want to come to Togliatti from Moscow, then you should know that the distance between them is 980 kilometers, first along Volgogradsky Prospekt, then along Novoryazanskoye Highway and along the M5 highway. The road will run through the Ryazan Region, the Republic of Mordovia and the Penza Region. The distance between Togliatti St. Petersburg is 1,770 kilometers, first along Moskovsky Avenue of the northern capital, then along the M10 highway and Leningradskoye Highway to the Russian capital, and then along the same path as from Moscow to Togliatti.
