Any excursion consists of two interrelated processes - preparation and conduct. The creation of an excursion program is a difficult process, sometimes requiring the participation of a whole team. It is important here not only the content of the future excursion, but also the ability to choose effective ways to influence the audience.

Step 1
Develop a theme for the excursion. You may need to create a creative group for this, which can include from two to seven people (depending on the complexity of the topic). Consider the possibility of inviting specialists - museum workers, teachers of educational institutions.
Step 2
Pick up materials for the excursion, study them and pre-select those objects that will be in the center of the future excursion.
Step 3
Develop an excursion route. It should include the sequential passage of the planned objects by the excursion group and be convenient.
Step 4
Prepare information messages regarding each of the excursion sites. It is important that the content of the story is interesting and captures the audience. When preparing a message, be guided by the characteristics of the audience, such as age, professional characteristics, level of education. So, if the excursion is included in the program of a business trip, stop at the show of business and community centers.
Step 5
Showing objects on the tourist route is one of the most important tasks of the excursion. As such objects, select memorial sites associated with historical events, buildings and structures, monuments to outstanding personalities, unique natural sites, reserves, archeological monuments.
Step 6
When drawing up excursion routes, strive to ensure that the same objects are not transferred from one excursion to another. Each separate excursion topic should ideally have its own objects. When composing a route, alternate objects according to their content, this will preserve the novelty of perception and keep the attention of tourists.
Step 7
Calculate the estimated duration of the excursion, taking into account the number of objects and their distance from each other. The optimal duration of a city tour is 2-3 academic hours (with the number of objects no more than fifteen).
Step 8
If you are seriously planning to organize excursion activities, make it a rule to draw up a card for each object. In it, indicate the name of the object, features of the associated historical event, location, description of the monument, including the author and date of creation. It is advisable to supplement the card with a photograph of the excursion object and contact numbers of the organization responsible for its content.
Over time, you will have accumulated significant material that allows you to compose various types of thematic excursions.
