It would seem that there are no such monuments left that could surprise the notorious traveler. But there is always something new and interesting that can cheer, surprise and impress. One of such examples are the monuments to the cucumber, which, surprisingly, are quite numerous.
Well done cucumbers in Russia
A monument to a cucumber appeared in Stary Oskol in the Belgorod region after local green pimpled products won an international competition for environmental friendliness and food safety. The monument was erected near the entrance to the Metallurg plant, which produces victorious products. The attraction is a giant fork with a cucumber strung on it.
In the city of Lukhovitsy, Moscow Region, cucumber is also a popular character. The main source of income of this small town is just a green vegetable. During the crises of the last century, the townspeople survived only thanks to the fact that they learned to grow cucumbers on their personal plots, which they sold in the markets of Moscow and the Moscow region. A monument to a cucumber in this Russian city is a large barrel and a pickled cucumber pulled out of it.
They also decided to glorify the traditional Russian appetizer in the village of Cherkasy, Yeletsky district, Lipetsk region. In the local village, all residents grow cucumbers, and Cherkasy cucumbers are famous almost throughout the country. The monument is a whole composition of a cucumber lash with a meter-long cucumber.
Cucumbers abroad
Not only the inhabitants of Russia are in awe of cucumbers. In the Ukrainian city of Nizhyn, which is famous for its delicious pickled and pickled cucumbers grown thanks to the special soil in these places, a monument to pickled cucumber was erected. The statue is a cellar for storing pickles, a barrel and a cucumber pulled out of it.
The inhabitants of Belarus decided not to lag behind and also erected a monument to the cucumber. True, the monument in the city of Shklov has a more fabulous look. Here the cucumber, named by the creator Ogorodets, is dressed in a stylish jacket and bow tie, holds a basket and a flower in his hands, and looks contented and mysterious. An interesting sculpture immediately became a symbol of the city, besides, locals traditionally celebrate the day of the cucumber in mid-July.
In the Polish city of Poznan, there is also a monument to the cucumber, erected right on the central square. It is there that the Poznan International Fair operates, where various vegetables are sold, among other things. Fair visitors can see such an unusual monument in the form of a green cucumber on a fairly solid pedestal.
Even in America, monuments to the cucumber have been erected. One of them is located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and is a yellow-green twisted realistic handsome man on a pedestal, and the other is set in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania and looks like a fairy-tale character with arms, legs and a smiling face, raising his hat in greeting.
