Going to Magadan! There are three ways to get to the capital of Golden Kolyma - by plane, by car along the famous Road of Bones and by sea.
The capital of the Magadan Territory can be reached in three ways - by plane, by car and by water. There is no railway line to Magadan and it will not appear in the near future.
The first way is by plane, the easiest one. Flights from Moscow, Novosibirsk, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Krasnodar are regularly made to Magadan. The only international flight Magadan-Anchorage (Alaska) has now been canceled.
In recent years, it has become possible to reach Magadan all year round by car. Keep in mind that the state of the Kolyma federal road can change quickly. Prolonged rains or snowfalls can make this road impassable. A particularly difficult section of the road is located on the Walba-Khandyga section. This section is often impassable for cars for up to two weeks in the summer.
You should not try to drive along the old section of the Kolyma highway through the village of Tomtor. A large number of missing bridges and mountain rivers require trained equipment and off-road experience.
The situation with petrol stations, especially on the section of the road from Khandyga to Ust-Nera, is tense. The "Kyubeme" gas station located between these settlements sometimes does not work. Stock up on fuel in advance, in winter it is obligatory. Your life depends on it.
There is no official passenger water communication with Magadan. There are cargo ships that regularly operate on the Magadan-Nakhodka and Magadan-Vladivostok routes, but there is no clear timetable for these ships.
