Italy is a member of the Schengen agreement. To travel to its territory, you will need a visa, which you can apply for at the consulate or visa center of Italy. This can be done either by the applicant himself or by his relative. An outsider has to submit documents only with a notarized power of attorney.

Step 1
For a tourist trip, you will need a hotel reservation in the country. It should include details such as hotel contact details, length of stay and applicant's personal details. For those traveling on a private visit, you need to show an invitation from a resident of Italy and a copy of his identity document. The invitation is drawn up in the prescribed form, it indicates the place of residence of the guest.
Step 2
Round-trip tickets. It is allowed to attach a printout of the unpaid reservation. Tickets can be for plane, bus or train. It is necessary to show the originals and make photocopies from them. If the ticket is booked online, you can attach a printout from the website. For those who drive their own transport, you need to demonstrate a certificate of registration, insurance policy and driver's license. A complete travel itinerary is also required. Make photocopies for each document.
Step 3
Insurance policy valid throughout the Schengen area. The amount of coverage must be at least € 30,000. The policy can be made in advance or paid directly at the visa center.
Step 4
Foreign passport and a copy of the page containing personal data and a photograph of the applicant. The expiry date of the passport must be longer than the requested visa, at least three months. The passport must have at least two blank pages. If you have a second valid passport, both of them should be shown. If you have old, canceled or expired passports, you should have them with you.
Step 5
Application form for a visa. You need to fill it in block letters, English or Italian. You can also write in Russian, but in transliteration. Each of the children entered in the passport needs a separate application form. The application form can be downloaded from the website of the visa application center or you can take a paper form right on the spot. One color photograph of the established sample should be attached to the application form.
Step 6
Certificate from the place of work on letterhead, indicating all the details of the company. You need to get it no later than a month before the submission of documents. The head of the company must sign the certificate and certify it with a seal. If the person himself is the head of the company and signs the certificate, then it is necessary to demonstrate evidence of his authority (order to appoint a director or copies of constituent documents).
Step 7
Pensioners must attach a copy of the pension certificate, and students - a certificate from the place of study. For students, the dean of the faculty must sign the certificate.
Step 8
Proof of finance. You can show an account statement, a photocopy of your credit card with an ATM check (valid for 3 days), and a guarantee from the host. The funds on the account should be approximately 60 euros for one night stay. If your funds are not enough, you need to attach a sponsorship letter, as well as a certificate from the sponsor's work and an extract from his account.
Step 9
Receipt for payment of the consular fee. You can get it at the Visa Application Center or Consulate, and pay at the Intesa Bank.
