A bungalow is a house with one floor and a sloping roof. Translated from the Hindi language means "building in the Bengali style." Its premises are designed to accommodate one family.
History of appearance
The construction of the first bungalows took place in the Bengal State, which ceased to exist in the middle of the last century, now its territory is divided between India and the Republic of Bangladesh. Initially, such houses were built specifically for the colonialists and distinguished British guests. Later, this type of dwelling became popular in Britain itself. As a rule, bungalows were built in rural areas where farmers lived, because it was cheap and convenient. At the end of the last century, the experience of the British was adopted in America, after which bungalows spread throughout Europe and Australia.
Bungalow today
Today, bungalows can be found in almost every country in the world, even in the Alps, and it does not always look like a hut. Most often it is a cozy one- or even two-story brick building on the south coast, where tourists spend their holidays. Bungalows attract them with the convenience of the layout and the atmosphere of tranquility, so they increasingly prefer them to noisy large hotels, where the cost of living is higher, since in the bungalows tourists serve themselves.
IN USA
In America, bungalows are typical of California and Chicago. In California, bungalows are built with large verandas, square columns, plastered walls, often with a low second floor with an abundance of windows; the interior of such bungalows is rich in natural materials and a touch of Spanish paraphernalia. In Chicago, bungalows feature a gabled loft, recessed porch, basement, hipped roof and narrow façade.
In Spain
Spanish bungalows are imbued with the spirit of Mexico. This is evidenced by red roofs, carved wooden entrance doors, forged decorative railings and bars, arched windows. The walls inside are covered with plaster - white or cream color, the floor is covered with tiles. The terrace is fenced with walls. A Spanish bungalow is being built for several families; in Russia, such houses are called townhouses.
In Thailand
This country has a more traditional type of bungalow, here it is built of wood, and the roof is covered with palm branches. The layout is unusual: all rooms are located around one spacious living room, which greatly simplifies movement around the house. The dwellings are built on the ocean coast, they never get stuffy. The almost complete absence of soundproofing allows you to enjoy birdsong and the sounds of nature.
In Europe
There are two-storey bungalows, with a land plot, a duplex - a combination of a terrace and rooms on the second floor. For a European house of this type, it is possible for two families to live together on different floors at the same time.
