If the passenger changes the ticket 2 hours before the train departure, he is entitled to receive the full ticket price and 50 percent of the reserved seat price. If the passenger's trip is canceled less than 2 hours before the train departure, then the money for the reserved seat will not be refunded, you can only get the ticket price. If the passenger misses the train, he can also exchange his ticket within 12 hours from the moment the train departs.

You can exchange a ticket or return money for a travel document at any railway ticket office in the city. Some train stations in large cities have special ticket refund offices, so regular ticket offices will not accept refund tickets. You will have to stand in line twice: first, return the ticket, and then, if necessary, buy a new one at a regular ticket office.

It is also possible to return and purchase a new ticket at special commercial railway ticket offices, equipped in shopping or business centers of the city. However, please note that such cash registers charge their own commission for each transaction performed.

If the passenger has issued an electronic ticket, then he / she will be able to exchange or return the ticket on the same website where the purchase was made. This can be both the Russian Railways website and the resource of any third-party ticket seller. You need to find the function "Return ticket" or "Cancel purchase". After completing all the required actions, you will cancel the purchase of your ticket and will be able to order a new one, if needed. However, remember that the money for the ticket may be credited to your card within 30 days from the date of the cancellation of the purchase. This is a normal practice for such a service, and there is no need to worry about a long lack of funds on the card. When a ticket is returned using this method, a ticket refund fee will also be charged for each canceled transaction.
