The tallest building in St. Petersburg is the Leader Tower business center with 42 floors and a height of 140 meters. This skyscraper even surpassed the St. Petersburg TV Tower, the former main skyscraper of the Northern capital. She, in turn, surpassed the Peter and Paul Cathedral in height, which for a long time was in the lead in this rating.
How was the construction of the "Leader of the Tower"
The location of the 140-meter building is the Moskovsky District of St. Petersburg and the Constitution Square. The high-rise facility was commissioned in 2013, and construction has lasted since 2009.
The construction of the Leader Tower did not always go well. For example, a few months after the start of work - in May 2009 - all construction activities were suspended for reasons that have not been disclosed until now. The construction of the business center resumed after 9 months in February 2010.
"Leader Tower", according to the classification of business centers, refers to the building of class "A". Its total area is 52.7 thousand square meters.
It is also known that according to the initial project, a helipad was to be located on the roof of the Leader Tower, however, this plan has not been implemented so far.
According to official information, the project developer spent 3.1 billion rubles on its implementation.
It is also interesting that the Leader Tower project was conceived back in the 60s of the last century, when a plot of land was left for a future large-scale construction during the formation of a development plan for the territory near Novoizmailovsky Prospekt and Constitution Square. Now modern architects call the business center a rather promising avenue accent.
The desired occupancy rate of the Leader Tower is also ensured by its proximity to important highways of St. Petersburg, such as Leninsky and Novoizmailovsky avenues, Krasnoputilovskaya street, Moskovsky prospect and Western high-speed diameter.
Features of the 140-meter business center
At the end of December 2011, workers completed the frame work and began glazing the building at the 18th floor. By January 25 of the following year, the glazing reached the 24th floor. Already on June 10 of the same year, the same work on the 40th floor was completed, and the date for the completion of construction work, which was originally determined as October 2012, was also named.
Already on December 9, 2012, the official opening of the high "Leader of the Tower" was postponed to February 2013.
A special feature of the business center is its construction made of glass and aluminum. The emphasis of the construction is placed on vertical ribs, which emphasize the "swiftness" of the "Leader Tower". The same ribs, as conceived by the designers, are intended for fixing elements of media facades (LED modules).
Thanks to a carefully thought-out lighting system, all 140 meters of the Leader Tower can also be used as a carrier of advertising information. The visibility of the information posted on the business center reaches 100-500 meters, depending on the chosen point.
