The appearance of Novosibirsk is constantly changing. From a two-story merchant Novonikolaevsk, it gradually turned into a constructivist Novosibirsk. And only recently the city has grown significantly.
Novonikolaevsk
Before the revolution there were no tall buildings in Novonikolaevsk. Only cathedrals and fire towers towered over the city. Among the large structures, the City Trade Building can be noted. And even that is remarkable not in height, but in architectural solutions.
The building of the City Trade Building was built in the center of the Fair Square by the architect A. D. Kryachkov. Construction began on May 25, 1910. Completed in 1911.
Soviet city
The Soviet period also did not present high-rise buildings to Novosibirsk. The Siberian scale gave no reason to save land. They built extensively and reliably. The city grew anywhere, but not upwards.
Currently, about twenty constructivist buildings have survived in Novosibirsk.
Explosive growth
Everything changed with the advent of market relations. More multi-storey buildings began to appear. Novosibirsk reached for the sky.
Until recently, the tallest building was considered the house located at Kommunisticheskaya Street, 50. It is known among the Novosibirsk people under the funny nickname "Batman".
The building on Kommunisticheskaya Street received several nicknames: "Aton", "Dvuhvostka", "Horned", "Tooth", "Plug", "Rosette".
The height of Batman, if you count together with the turrets at the top, reaches 88 meters. Aside from the turrets, the tallest building in the city today is the Cobra business center (4/1 Dimitrov Ave.). According to the documents, its height is 84 meters. The building has 25 floors.
Batman was built in 2003 by the construction company ATON. It was designed by architects A. P. Dolnakov and A. Yu. Baranov.
The situation should change in the near future. A large construction site is underway on Kirov Street. Two skyscrapers are being built. One of them will stretch 102 meters, and the other will rise 140 meters (about 30 floors).
In conclusion, one more fact. The tallest creation of human hands in Novosibirsk is the boiler-house pipe of CHPP-5. Its height reaches 260 meters. Here is such a not very aesthetic record holder in the city of Novosibirsk.
