For seriously keen fishermen who do not spare serious money for equipment, a motor drill is a good option for an ice hole punch. They are gasoline and electric. Many people like the latter more - there is less noise, there is no smell from the exhaust, they start up better in cold weather, and you do not need to remember which side of the drill should not be lifted up. The auger diameter of a motor-drill is usually "8", "10" and "12". Experts advise buying a 24-volt instrument: it makes a hole in the ice well and holds a charge.
Step 5
The hole-hole you cut through should be 18-27 cm in diameter and have the shape of a cone with a narrow side in the water. It is better to knock off the edges of the hole so that they are not sharp and cannot cut the line. The fish in winter, especially in frost, is not very active, so you will have to make more than a dozen holes in the ice until you find a good place to fish.
