Instructions
Step 1
To obtain a visa, first read the information regarding entry to America for Russian citizens. Go to the website below, select the type of visa you are interested in from the list and read the detailed instructions for obtaining it, as well as the list of required documents.
Step 2
Gather all the required paperwork. The list of them depends on the type of the chosen visa. But, basically, all passports are required, a completed application form, photographs, a certificate from the place of work, a copy of a work book, documents for ownership of property, an extract from a foreign currency bank account, an invitation or hotel reservation, a certificate of marriage and birth of children. To avoid many problems with deadlines or mistakes in documents, start collecting them a couple of months before applying for a visa.
Step 3
Pay the consular fee. This is a mandatory requirement for all people applying for a visa. Its size depends on the visa. Go to the above website, click on the menu item "Bank and payment of consular fees" and select the receipt corresponding to your type of visa. Fill it out, print it and pay in cash at any branch of VTB 24 Bank or a computerized post office. You can also pay by credit card. After making a payment, be sure to keep your receipt and receipt.
Step 4
Schedule an interview. To do this, fill out the online application DS-160 on the same website and upload your photo there. This will bring up a confirmation page with an alphanumeric barcode that you need to print. Then sign up for interviews online on this site or through the contact center.
