Israel is not only ancient cities, historical sites, but it is one of the most popular pilgrimage sites. After all, it was here that Jesus Christ was born. Therefore, many believers in thousands come to the Holy Land to bypass all the places where the life of Christ took place: from birth to Resurrection.
Pilgrim Tours
Before going to Israel, the believer needs to decide on the duration of the pilgrimage tour. The most optimal tour for today is considered to be a tour for 8 days in the off-season and 11 days in the high season, when there is still no sweltering heat, but it is already warm and very sunny.
Traditionally, believers first go to the capital of Israel - Jerusalem. This city is sacred for all who consider themselves Orthodox, and therefore people visit iconic places with trepidation, although tourists often note the abundance of commercial institutions and trade enterprises that interfere with "honor and faith."
One of the special places for tourists to visit is the Mount of Olives. It is believed that it was on this mountain that the Ascension of Jesus took place, and on this mountain are the Gethsemane and Olive Monasteries for women and two temples. One of them is in honor of the Ascension, and the second is the temple of St. Mary Magdalene. Pilgrims arriving as part of a tourist group will be able to visit the Garden of Gethsemane and see the tomb of the Mother of God. Then the believers are escorted to the Old part of the city, where the famous Wailing Wall is located. At the wall, time is given for prayer and the laying of notes, you can walk around the benches, buy crosses and various candles.
Then you can visit the Temple Mount and visit Pretoria, where Jesus Christ was held in custody. Further, the pilgrims are led along the Way of the Cross, where there are 14 stops.
Bethlehem and Jaffa
After getting to know Jerusalem, the believers go to the small city of Bethlehem, where Christ was born. This town also has a Church dedicated to the Nativity. After that, we move again, this time to the city of Tiberias, where the monastery in honor of St. George Hozevit and the Forty-day monastery are located. The latter was miraculously preserved, because it was repeatedly destroyed by the Persians. The monastery is stunningly beautiful, fascinating views open from its heights, and narrow corridor streets beckon to wander along the kilometer-long passages between cells.
As part of the pilgrimage tour, believers will be able to visit the famous Mount Tabor with the Jordan River, in which the Baptism of Jesus took place. Then you can see Canna of Galilee, where, according to biblical traditions, the Savior made wine from water. Then the time comes to get acquainted with Nazareth - the city in which Christ grew up and spent his youth. And at the end, the pilgrims inspect Jaffa, where Noah built his ark.
Israel is a truly amazing country where you can visit all the famous Holy Places or relax in famous spas. Here, any tourist can find excellent conditions for recreation and visit most of the world's most popular historical monuments.
