Ostashkov is the city from which most tourists begin their journey to Lake Seliger. Ostashkov is located very well, in the southern part of the reservoir. It has a river station, from which boats go to the most remote parts of the lake system.

Step 1
You can get to Ostashkov by train, bus, car. Despite the small distance from Moscow - about 400 kilometers, the train to it takes quite a long time - almost 12 hours. It departs from the Leningradsky railway station. Train number 603/604. Walks more often in summer than in winter. The schedule changes every year. Step 2
Buses to Ostashkov leave from the Tushinskaya metro station. Travel time is about 7 hours. Tushinskaya is the third station of the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya line. The bus station is 100 meters from the metro entrance. To find it and not get lost, you need to get on the first carriage from the center, find an exit to the commuter trains, take the escalator and turn left. Then go out into the street and immediately turn right - in front there will be a bus stop and a bus station ticket office.
Step 3
The fastest way to get to Ostashkov is by car. You can go in two ways - along the Novorizhskoe highway, through Volokolamsk, Shakhovskaya, Zubtsov, Rzhev and Selizharovo. Or along the Leningradskoe highway through Tver, Torzhok and Kuvshinovo. The roads are about the same in terms of condition, but the Novorizhskoe highway is being widened at the entrance to Moscow, therefore, construction work often causes congestion. Travel time is about five hours excluding Moscow traffic jams.
Step 4
You can also get to Ostashkov through Tver, to which trains run from Moscow from the Leningradsky railway station. From the central bus station of the city there is a regular bus and minibus to Ostashkov. Travel time is about 4 hours.
