Even if your plans do not include daily excursions and exploration of everything on the island, you will find something interesting near the hotel. The Sri Lankans honor and cherish their cultural heritage. Former colonialists (Portuguese, Dutch and English) are spoken of with respect. They do not grumble, do not complain about fate. Still would! The Dutch built excellent canals here, the British built railways (they still work unchanged), and the Portuguese have clearly contributed to the culinary history of the country. Sri Lankan dishes have parallels with South Indian cuisine, but still have their own food culture.

As in many Asian countries, curry here is a whole group of dishes: fish, meat, various seafood, vegetables, legumes and fruits. They are mixed in a bowl of rice and eaten by hand. Most popular appetizers: Hatmalya - a salad of finely grated coconut pulp with chili peppers, onions and lime juice and batu salada - an incredibly tasty lentil chowder. All dishes have a spicy burning aroma.
