The Bahamas is a place where the atmosphere of happiness is everywhere … Look, for example, at these amazing pigs. They swim every day in the crystal clear waters of the Bahamas, living in complete harmony with nature and the world.
Pig Island in the Bahamas
The Bahamas is a paradise not only for tourists, but also for everyone whose foot … or hoof … sets foot on this friendly land. Over the years, the pigs have perfectly adapted to the beach lifestyle: all day long they selflessly frolic in the water and relax on the gentle sand. Every day, happy faces attract crowds of tourists like a magnet. People flock to the beach to see the extraordinary wild pig habitat happily splashing in the azure ocean waters. A Florida photographer once noticed that pigs are surprisingly strong swimmers. Even young piglets feel at home in the water. And swimming with people is a real pleasure for them!
How did they get here?
It is believed that the pigs entered the island by accident. Sailors sailing past threw the animals on land to make a delicious dinner out of them on their return. However, fate was destined to dispose of otherwise. "Sea wolves" never returned to the Bahamas, and the artiodactyls remained to live and live, and make good money. And how to acquire this very good, they understood a little later. The pigs soon discovered that the crews of passing yachts regularly dump excess food into the Atlantic. And we decided to take advantage of it! Seeing a yacht in the distance, the hungry piglets willingly dived into the water and swam a few hundred feet away in the hope of free food. And, of course, they got it! It was not a sin to pay for such a performance.
Another legend claims that a shipwreck occurred on one rainy day near the shores of the island of pigs. On the ship, which suffered a devastating disaster, these lovely creatures were among the passengers. The ship itself crashed into the reefs and sank, and the animals were the only ones who were lucky enough to survive. The pigs swam to the island, which was uninhabited during those times. And they safely established a small colony there.
There is another version of the appearance of pigs. But it is very prosaic and mercantile in nature. It is believed that unusual swimmers were brought to the Bahamian resorts specifically to increase attendance and intrigue tourists who are hungry for entertainment. Even if this point of view is correct, it is worth noting that the mission was a success. The guests of the islands are absolutely delighted with the "wild guests" of these places.
Now there are about 20 pink, red and black "hryundels" on the island. Their life on a tropical island is carefree and serene - for days on end they swim, eat and sleep, looking completely happy. Probably, this is the very notorious paradise on Earth. Just admire these happy faces.
