Ancient cities always attract attention, because they keep in themselves not only history, but also the incredible mystery of what has so far remained without human research. One of these cities is the city of Jerash in Jordan.
Jerash is just an hour's drive from the Jordanian capital. The ancient Decapolis, attracting the attention of tourists, is located here and can tell a lot about its origin. By the way, despite the fact that in modern descriptions the name of the city is "Jerash", getting into it, you can find many tablets with the words "Jarash". Why such changes occurred, the guides do not explain, without knowing how and when history changed.
The peculiarity of the city is that at one time it disappeared from reality twice. This happened for the first time in the 8th century AD. from the ongoing earthquake. The second time this was repeated during the Crusades. Where the city disappeared and how it again became accessible to the modern world is unknown.
The main attraction of the city is the amphitheater, which still hosts various festivals. The Queen of Jordan first came up with the idea to hold the festival in 1981. This is probably due to the fact that the amphitheater resembles a deep bowl, thanks to which the acoustics in this area are incredible. That is why both the sound of the voice and the sound of music itself are revealed in all its manifestations.
Jerash's architects were original people, because they managed to create real illusions in their buildings. Some constructions are made in such a way that it is possible to consider them completely from only one angle. And from all other sides it will seem that the building is floating in the clouds or simply disappears.
Another feature of Jerash is the Temple of Artemis. But tourists should know that the spoon built into the column of the temple is already an innovation of modern architects. All the columns of the temple are built in such a way that they have a backlash, due to which the spoon begins to vibrate from a gust of wind, creating vibrations. By the way, the first feeling that appears after accepting that the columns can hesitate is the desire to leave this area. Although, in fact, it is thanks to the backlash that all structures stand for many centuries without decaying.
It would seem that Jerash is not the most popular ancient city, but still. Even seasoned tourists are delighted to see its splendor. If you look around, a variety of historical pictures immediately pop up in your head and you can imagine how people lived here.
There is also a fountain in Jerash, which is an incredibly beautiful structure. Looking at it, one wonders how people used to cope with such an incredible job without the help of a variety of techniques. Although it is difficult to call such a structure a work, it is a real art. True, there is no water in the fountain.
After walking around the city for several hours, there is absolutely no desire to return to the real world. On the contrary, I would like to delve into history even more and still understand how everything happened in reality.
