Having mastered the basics of rock climbing technique through multiple and persistent trainings, and having developed such physical qualities as agility and accuracy of movement, strength, you decided to climb the rock. Here, too, you cannot do without some preparation.
It is necessary
- -Professional equipment: carabiners, hooks, etc.
- - Hiking equipment: backpack, sleeping bag, tent
- -Personal items - dishes, hygiene items.
- -Additional: maps and a compass to them, altimeter or in another way - altimeter, first aid kit, flashlight, folding primus stove, matches, notebook with a pencil.
Instructions
Step 1
Determine the type of rock - light, medium, hard. This gradation depends on the steepness of the slope, its relief and the degree of rock strength.
Step 2
Before starting the ascent, look at the entire planned path along the rock from a convenient vantage point. It is very good to outline it on paper in the form of a plan. Here, indicate the expected difficulties so that they do not come as a surprise to you on the way, as well as outline the places of parking and rest.
Step 3
Break the entire planned path in advance into sections of continuous ascent. The higher your technical skills, the longer these sections become. This is necessary for the optimal determination of the rope extension.
Step 4
Start climbing. It is most convenient to do it in bundles of 2 people. While you are climbing, your comrade is guarding you attentively and with concentration. At the same time, avoid being directly above the person guarding you, as this is dangerous in the event of a stone falling. Do not be distracted by extraneous conversations, but use only clear warning words.
Step 5
When ascending, the strongest climber goes first, who chooses the optimal path and goes first through difficult sections.
Step 6
When the ascent is completed, there is a descent ahead, which often turns out to be more dangerous on the rocks than the ascent. Its difficulty is determined by the inability to discern the path of descent, and divide it into segments of non-stop movement. Therefore, use the method of free rappelling.
