Moscow prices shock not only Russians who come to the capital from other regions, they amaze even seasoned foreigners. Nowhere in the world do businessmen and tourists have to shell out such large sums for accommodation and meals as in Moscow. Even having traveled all the capital's hotels, you can hardly find a room costing less than $ 250. And this is the lower limit, in most cases the price of an overnight stay does not fall below $ 400. For comparison, in London, one of the most expensive cities in the world, it is quite possible to spend the night for $ 50-70, the capital of England has a large number of hotels of various price categories.

Why is the cost of living in Moscow hotels so prohibitively high? Experts name several reasons, the main ones being the very high cost of Moscow land and the exorbitant level of corruption. To find land for the construction of a hotel, the future developer will not only have to pay a considerable sum for the site itself, but also spend substantial funds on "gifts" to the officials on whom this allocation depends. Now it remains to add the cost of construction, new bribes during the process of construction and commissioning of the hotel, as a result, its total cost turns out to be very large. To compensate for the investment, the developer has to set high prices for accommodation.

Large construction costs lead to the fact that it becomes unprofitable for developers to build hotels with cheap rooms, this segment of the hotel market in Moscow has almost completely disappeared. An ordinary Russian who finds himself in the capital for a couple of days has to either count on a bed in a private apartment, or while away the night at the train station, sitting in the waiting room. There is no opportunity to spend the night for an acceptable amount of 3-4 thousand rubles in the capital at the moment. Even many foreigners cannot afford Moscow prices, which makes them quite understandably indignant.

The only way to provide guests of the capital of Russia with affordable hotel rooms is to put things in order in the allocation of land for construction, simplify the process of various approvals that take time and money from developers. With a decrease in the cost of building hotels, their number will begin to increase rapidly, prices for accommodation will naturally go down, eventually reaching the average European level.
