Russians have long taken a liking to Ukraine as a close and so dear foreign country. Kiev is the capital of Ukraine, the cultural, economic and geographical center of the country, in which there are so many attractions that you cannot see it in one weekend. Crimea is a wonderful resort on the Black Sea coast. But tourists are first interested in what documents are needed to cross the border without problems.

Main document for entry

If all tourists and visitors to Ukraine are citizens of Russia, then to cross the Russian-Ukrainian border they need only one passport: either Russian or foreign. When crossing the border at the checkpoint, you must show any of these passports and fill out an immigration card.

This card is issued free of charge at the border, and it is filled in by the entrant while the border guards are checking the documents. Half of such a card remains with tourists, it is in it that an entry stamp is put if the tourist enters with a Russian passport. If you plan to use a foreign passport on a trip, then another stamp is put on it, the same stamp as on the immigration card.

Citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Uzbekistan must have a foreign passport when entering Ukraine.

Documents for the child

For children under the age of 14, it is compulsory to have a birth certificate with a stamp on Russian citizenship or an insert with a mark on citizenship. If the child is registered in the parents' passport, then he can be allowed into the country without personal documents, but it is advisable to have all the documents with you. With one of the parents, a child can enter the country without the permission of the other, but one child will be allowed into Ukraine with an accompanying person (for example, a grandmother) only if there is a notarized parental consent for the child to leave Russia.

Before traveling, be sure to check in advance whether your passport has expired and whether it will expire while you are in another state, otherwise you will have to stay in Russia and change your document. Girls also have a problem with passports after marriage: if you are going to Crimea after the wedding and decide to change your surname, you first need to change your passport, and only then cross the border.

In Ukraine, a Russian passport will be valid even if it does not have a stamp on registration at the place of residence.

Additional documents and rules

If you are traveling to Ukraine in your car, take your driver's license and vehicle passport with you. You will also need insurance, but you can get it right at the border. On a long journey (more than two months), you will have to register your car in Ukraine.

You can take it to Ukraine without declaring $ 3,000 per adult. Interestingly, you can take out already up to 10 thousand euros, also without declaring money.
