The Oreshek fortress also has a second name - Shlisselburgskaya. It is located in the Leningrad region, in the place where the Neva flows out of Lake Ladoga. The fortress is located on an island, so you can get there either during navigation, or in winter, when strong ice sets.
It is necessary
- - the schedule of trains from Finland Station;
- - St. Petersburg metro map;
- - map of the Kirovsky district of the Leningrad region.
Instructions
Step 1
On the banks of the Neva, between which there is a fortress "Oreshek", there are the city of Shlisselburg and the village of them. Morozov. The village has a railway station "Petrokrepost". You can get to it from the Finland Station in St. Petersburg. The station itself is located on the red line of the metro, the station is called "Lenin Square". Electric trains to Petrokrepost or to Nevskaya Dubrovka are suitable for you.
Step 2
You can get to Shlisselburg by bus or minibus that go from the Ulitsa Dybenko metro station. The station itself is located on the yellow metro line. You need a social or commercial bus 575. The journey takes about forty minutes - about half the time of a commuter train.
Step 3
There is no permanent ferry service with the island at the moment. There is only the "Aygun" motor ship, it belongs to the museum located in the fortress, and delivers tourists to the island on weekends. You can get on it both from the village of them. Morozov and from Shlisselburg. This type of transport has one significant drawback - the museum administration can change the schedule without notice. On weekdays, only excursion groups are transported to the island by prior arrangement.
Step 4
But you can get to the island even if the ship does not go. When you get to the pier (it takes only a few minutes from the train platform), you will see many private boats. Their owners will gladly take curious travelers to the ancient fortress.
Step 5
There is another way to get to the island. It is, however, longer, but also more interesting. This is an excursion boat. It can be a cruise ship along Ladoga and beyond. Some ships enter the island, but you need to inquire about this in advance at the tour desk or travel agency. There are also motor ships making excursion voyages along the Neva. You can find a suitable flight at any pier, of which there are a lot in St. Petersburg now. The journey by boat takes about three hours, so the trip will take you almost a whole day.
Step 6
The entrance to the museum is paid, for Russian citizens the ticket is slightly cheaper than for foreigners. The fortress is a branch of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg. In addition to the exposition, you will be shown the casemates in which the most famous prisoners were located - and there are quite a few of them. In addition, there is a memorial to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War on the territory.
Step 7
In winter, some extreme tourism lovers go skiing to the island. True, in the cold season, the fortress can only be viewed from the outside, since the museum is open from May 1 to October 31. In addition, not every winter sufficiently strong ice is established on Ladoga and Neva, and there are years when the ban on going out on the ice is in effect all winter.
