According to legend, the temple was built on the site of the death of the white royal elephant; the road to the temple lies through a mountain serpentine. Part of the way can be covered by a rented car or taxi, but you will not be able to get to the temple itself. The road is interrupted at the base of the mountain, then there are two paths, people with good physical fitness can climb the stairs, the stairs are quite steep, it consists of 290 steps. There is a second, easier way - to go up the railroad. At the top of the mountain there is a monastery; in clear weather, a beautiful view of Chiang Mai opens from the mountain.
Phu Phing Palace
The palace is a working royal residence, open to the public all year round, with the exception of the time when the royal family comes there. It was built in 1961 to accommodate the family during visits to Chiang Mai, usually from December to the end of January. The palace is built in Thai style, surrounded by gardens with lots of colorful exotic flowers. The palace is located 4 km from the road to the Doi Suthep temple.
Ban Doi Pui village
The village is inhabited by representatives of the Meo tribe, they are known for their addiction to opium and colorful, colorful attire. The temple complex is especially beautiful in the morning sun. The complex is not a historical landmark, as it was built in 1997, however, its construction continues to this day.
