Vasilevsky Island is one of the most beautiful districts of St. Petersburg. Strelka offers a magnificent view of the Neva and its embankments. On the island you can visit several interesting museums, including the Kunstkamera, the Zoological Museum, and the Museum of the Academy of Arts. Not far from the Vasileostrovskaya metro station there is an amazing Puppet Museum … In a word, there is a lot to see in this area.

Spit of Vasilievsky Island - one of the most beautiful places in St. Petersburg

It is necessary

  • - St. Petersburg metro map;
  • - map of St. Petersburg;
  • - the schedule for the layout of bridges.

Instructions

Step 1

There are two metro stations on Vasilievsky Island, Vasileostrovskaya and Primorskaya. They are located at the very end of the green line, which was formerly called Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya, and now it is designated as the "third line" in the diagrams. If you are coming from Pulkovo airport, you need to get off at the Moskovskaya metro station by any bus or minibus. By metro you have to get to the station "Nevsky Prospekt", go to the station "Gostiny Dvor" and go one or two more stops.

Step 2

If you need to get to Vasilievsky Island from the Baltic, Vitebsky, or Finlyandsky railway stations, which are located respectively near the Baltiyskaya, Pushkinskaya and Ploshchad Lenina metro stations, you must change at the Ploschad Vosstaniya station. In addition, bus number 10 runs from the Baltiysky railway station, which goes through the Spit of Vasilievsky Island to Petrogradskaya.

Step 3

The easiest way to get there is from the Moscow railway station. In the very building of the station there is the lobby of the Ploschad Vosstaniya station, where they change from the red line to the green one. Go down to the metro and immediately go to the Mayakovskaya station. The second stop will be Vasileostrovskaya, the third - Primorskaya.

Step 4

Unlike other stations in St. Petersburg, Ladozhsky is not on the first metro line, but on the fourth, which is indicated in yellow on the diagrams. You can switch to the green line at the station "Alexander Nevsky Square". By the way, at night, when the metro is closed, night buses run between stations. Route 3M runs along Vasilievsky Island. In the summer, do not forget to look beforehand when the bridges are raised and lowered.

Step 5

It is more convenient to get to some areas of Vasilievsky Island not from “Vasileostrovskaya”, but, for example, from the stations “Nevsky Prospekt” or “Admiralteyskaya”. Such a need arises if you need to visit one of the museums located near Strelka. You can walk along Nevsky Prospekt, go around the Hermitage building, cross the Palace Bridge - and you are on Vasilievsky. You can pass a couple of stops by bus, minibus or trolleybus, since there are a lot of them in that direction.

Step 6

You can, of course, get to Vasilievsky Island by car. Depending on where you are coming from, you will have to cross one of four bridges. From the left bank, you can drive along the Blagoveshchensky Bridge (formerly called the Lieutenant Schmidt Bridge) or the Palace Bridge. Birzhevoy and Tuchkov bridges lead to Petrogradskaya. The most intensive traffic is on the Palace Bridge. In any case, you will have to drive through areas with very heavy traffic, so a car is not the most convenient way to get there. Those who often visit St. Petersburg usually leave their car in a parking lot on the outskirts, and get to the center by public transport.

Step 7

During navigation, you can also get to Vasilievsky Island by excursion boat, including from Kronstadt or Peterhof. But this type of transport communication is extremely unstable.
