A Schengen visa can be obtained in 24 countries. These are Austria, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Finland, France, Sweden, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Malta, Switzerland … With a visa to enter one of these countries, you can also visit any state from the list. Many people apply for a Schengen visa at a travel agency, but it is quite possible to get it on your own.

Step 1
To apply for a Schengen visa, you first need to collect a whole list of documents. Prepare your passport (it must be valid for at least three months before the end of the trip). Also prepare an old passport. It is better if it has visas. You will need 3 matte color photographs 3, 5x4, 5 cm, as well as a certificate from the workplace on the letterhead of the organization, containing the seal and signature of the chief. This certificate should indicate what position you hold, what is your salary and experience, address and telephone number of the organization. Also, do not forget to prepare a copy and original of the work book or certificate of registration of a private entrepreneur or company. You cannot do without a financial guarantee of the trip - at least 50 euros per day. Such a guarantee can be a credit card or a bank statement. You will need a photocopy of all pages of an ordinary passport and paper, from which it will be seen that you are tied to Russia: a certificate of ownership of an apartment, a marriage certificate, a birth certificate, etc.
Step 2
When the above documents are ready, you need to book a hotel or receive an invitation from the host. Such confirmation (reservation or invitation) will also be needed to obtain a Schengen visa. Book your round-trip tickets as well: they will also need to be provided.
Step 3
Take out a medical insurance policy for the entire stay in the Schengen countries. It must be without a deductible and for an award amount of at least EUR 30,000. Now you can download a special application form on the website of the embassy or consulate of the required country and fill it out in English or the language of the country where you are receiving your visa.
Step 4
Then make an appointment with the relevant embassy, consulate or visa center. If there is no appointment, you can come on your own and stand in line. You must have all the necessary documents, photo, application form and policy with you. When you surrender it all, you will be asked to pay
consular fee, and sometimes also a service fee. Now it remains to wait to see if you will be given a visa. Usually, if all conditions are met, problems do not arise.
