Rome is a real Mecca for connoisseurs of Renaissance architecture. No other capital can boast so many attractions per square kilometer of its territory. “All roads lead to Rome” - this famous saying perfectly illustrates the greatness and importance of this city. It's just which road to go first in the Eternal City itself, it's hard to decide right away - there are too many interesting things in it. Start your walk in Rome with a visit to the Colosseum. This is one of the famous landmarks not only of the Italian capital, but of the whole of Europe. This Roman amphitheater has never seen anything: the battles of gladiators, and the hunt for predatory animals, and sea battles, for which the entire arena was flooded with water. Touching the old marble from which its walls are made, you can feel the breath of centuries-old history. Until now, only the northern part of its outer wall has survived. Despite this, the ruins of the amphitheater attract many tourists. The Pantheon is another popular place for visitors to Rome. This is the so-called temple of all gods. Its large columns and imposing dome are truly stunning, but the interior plunges you into peace from the first minutes. Magnificent frescoes, marble statues of gods, chapels - all this makes you think about the magnificence of the art of Ancient Rome. There is only one window inside the Pantheon, it is located on the top of the dome, which gives the interior an atmosphere of mystery. Rome has a huge variety of fountains. The most famous of them is the Trevi Fountain. This is the largest and most beautiful fountain in the city. According to legend, you need to throw a coin at him, make a wish, and it will certainly come true. There are more than enough people willing to do this. About three thousand euros are thrown into it every day. The Roman Forum is another iconic place in the city. These are ancient ruins, already pretty overgrown with bushes and grass. During the reign of Julius Caesar, the Forum was the political center of Ancient Rome. Go to Capitol Hill. It is the lowest of the seven hills on which Rome stands. It is also small in size. However, it is this hill that is considered the heart of the city. A steep marble staircase leads to it. The temple of Jupiter once stood here. Now in the center of the hill is the Capitol Square, which was designed by Michelangelo himself in the 16th century. It is framed by three palaces. On the right is the Palace of the Conservatives, on the left is the New Palace, in the back is the Palace of the Senators. The first two palaces now house museums, while the Palace of the Senators houses the municipality. Piazza Venezia begins at the foot of the Capitoline Hill. For local residents, it has the same meaning as Red Square is for Muscovites. The Palace of Venice is located here. It now houses a wax museum, which is a must-see. Via del Corso begins from Piazza Venezia, which is as popular with guests of the Italian capital as its cultural heritage. This street consists almost entirely of brand shops of popular designers. Here you can buy quality items at modest prices. Shopping in the Eternal City is unthinkable without visiting the famous Cinecitta shopping center. It was built in the late 80s of the last century and includes hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. And, of course, it is impossible to imagine a trip to Rome without visiting the Vatican, which houses the main Catholic cathedral of the world - the Basilica of St. Peter. Its huge dome is visible from almost every point in Rome. Take a look at the local trattoria. This is an analogue of a Russian tavern. One of the best Roman trattorias is Felice. It received its first visitors back in 1936. Since then, its interior has undergone changes, but the menu has changed little. Here you can taste classic Roman cuisine, including fettuccine with mushrooms and tomatoes, puntarella - fresh vegetables with garlic sauce and, of course, real Italian pizza.
