A little over 400 years ago, on an island located at the intersection of the North American rivers of St. Lawrence and Ottawa, the local Iroquois Indian tribe organized settlements. And then Europeans arrived here and founded their village, called Ville-Marie (the mountain that stood on the island was christened Mont-Roal). This marked the beginning of the history of the second largest Canadian city of Montreal.

Today it is a modern metropolis with huge skyscrapers and highways. And at the same time an important historical center not only of the country, but of the entire continent. And also an amazingly interesting place, a trip to which will become an unforgettable and very informative adventure.

Like many old cities, Montreal is divided into "old" and "new". However, this does not mean at all that all its attractions and historical values are concentrated in one of the oldest areas. Here they are everywhere, and so varied and numerous that everyone can find exactly what he is interested in.

What can you see here? First of all, of course, the city is famous for its church buildings. The Basilica of Notre Dame de Montreal with its gilded sculptures and the world's largest trumpet organ, the Oratorio of Saint Joseph, the Cathedral Church of Christ and others.

A walk along the picturesque streets of the city will also give you a lot of impressions, among which are Avenue Lurie with stone houses with spiral staircases and flower pots located along it, Monkleand, which does not leave indifferent any shopping lover, and Bernard Avenue with its café Romolo, which is popular with Montreal residents, and La Piazzetta.

Museums and art institutions deserve special attention. Those wishing to see the world's masterpieces of the most famous artists of all times and peoples will not be able to pass by the Gallery of Reproduction Art. As the name implies, only reproductions of famous paintings are exhibited here. However, all of them are made with a skill that is almost equal to the originals.

Nature lovers will find many interesting things in the Biodome, which is a research center and eco-zoo, the Botanical Gardens, where you can see the desert, French, Japanese and Chinese parks, the local insectarium, etc.

Sports fans can visit the Olympic Stadium. From the windows of his tower you can see the whole city.

The most beautiful panorama opens from the largest skyscraper in the city or from the Mont-Roal mountain.

You can walk around the city for hours, but wherever you go, you will definitely find something interesting, amazing and extraordinarily beautiful.
