Shanghai is one of the largest megacities on the planet and seaports in Asia, located in the east of China, in the Yangtze River Delta. The close interweaving of historical heritage and modern technologies make the city attractive to tourists from all over the world.
Monuments of architecture
In the central part of the city, on the western bank of the Huangpu River, there is a symbol of Shanghai - the Bund. It is called the Museum of World Architecture, because on a one and a half kilometer site, there are 52 buildings of various architectural styles. These masterpieces of architecture are quite impressive if you observe them during a boat trip along the river, especially in the evening, when the embankment is beautifully illuminated.
You can get to the other side of the Huangpu through an original underground tunnel equipped with special light effects. On the eastern bank of the river, where even 20 years ago there were fields and villages, the commercial and financial center of China - the Pudong region - is now located. The most significant and tallest buildings in Shanghai are located here.
Also in Shanghai is the architectural pearl of the East - one of the tallest towers in Asia with a height of 468 m. At around 90 m there is an excursion corridor, at 263 m there is an observation deck with a glass floor, and a little higher - a revolving restaurant. At an altitude of 360 m, there is a conference hall and a luxury observation deck.
There is an oceanarium 200 m from the tower - one of the largest and most interesting in Asia, where underwater inhabitants of different regions of the world are represented.
Two of the tallest skyscrapers in the city - the Shanghai World Financial Center (492 m) and Jin Mao (421 m) - have been erected not far from the tower and the oceanarium.
People's Square, built on the site of a former racetrack, is considered the cultural center of Shanghai. Here are the buildings of the municipal government, the exhibition center for urban planning, the Bolshoi Theater and the Museum of Ancient Chinese Art. The People's Park and Shanghai Art Gallery are located in the center of the square.
Shanghai temples
The Temple of the City Guardian God is located on the territory of the Yuyuan Garden of Joy, where beautiful lakes, islands, hills, gazebos, pavilions and bridges are also located.
The Temple of the Jade Buddha is famous for the statue of the same name, carved from white jade and adorned with precious stones.
Undoubtedly, the Temple of Confucius of the Yuan Dynasty and the Cathedral of St. Ignatius, built in 1910, are also worthy of attention of the guests of Shanghai.
The ancient Buddhist Longhua Temple is one of the most popular places for tourists to visit, and thousands of visitors come every day to see this religious monument. There is also the tallest in the city - a seven-story - pagoda.
Shanghai Zoo is another tourist attraction in the Chinese metropolis. Animals are kept here in as close to natural conditions as possible, and for the convenience of exploring vast territories, closed transport is offered to visitors to the zoo.
