Thousands of tourists come to Moscow every year to admire the sights of the Russian Federation, purchasing sometimes very expensive excursions along popular routes. However, it is completely free to explore the beautiful Moscow places under the guidance of an experienced guide.
Thanks to the initiative of the Moscow City Heritage Site, in 2011, a project was launched to provide free excursions called "Entering the City". Excursions along non-trivial routes are conducted by outstanding Moscow scholars, experienced guides, university teachers. In 2011, tourists were offered 25 routes, among which were “The Seven Tallest Buildings in Moscow”, “Historical Styles in Moscow Architecture”, “Avant-garde and Art Deco Architecture in the Center of Moscow”, “Fedor Shekhtel and Moscow Art Nouveau” and others. According to the organizers of the excursions, the love for the capital begins with the study of its architectural features.
All excursions were free of charge, and anyone could take part in them. To do this, it was only necessary to visit the site of the project "Going to the city" and declare their participation by e-mail. After that, those who wanted to join the beautiful, a letter came to the e-mail box, which indicated the place and time of the collection. At the appointed time, it was necessary to come to the meeting place with a passport - the excursionists were checked against the declared list. Each tourist can take part in two excursions per month.
Muscovites and guests of the capital liked the project "Entering the City". According to the organizers, in the period from October to December 2011, about 20 thousand people took part in the excursions. In February 2012, the project started again, gathering a huge number of tourists from different countries. After another success, "Going out to the city" went on a summer vacation. In the fall of 2012, free excursions are planned to continue, and on an ongoing basis. Several new interesting routes will also be introduced. So far, the organizers' website has no information about upcoming excursions, but they urge fans of Moscow attractions to stay tuned.
