Trabant is an East German car brand. The author of the sculpture is David Cherny.

This sculpture was dedicated to political refugees from East Germany who, before the fall of the Berlin Wall, came to Prague on their "trabants" and asked the German embassy for help and asylum. The sculpture was installed in front of the German Embassy in Prague on the night of 1989.
