The Austrian capital is connected with the cities of the Russian Federation and the CIS by air and rail links, so the choice of options for getting from Russia to Vienna is quite large. You can also get there with transfers, for example, in Ukraine and Slovakia, and by car in transit through two or three countries.

  • - Schengen visa;

  • - access to the Internet;
  • - bank card for booking tickets.

Instructions

Step 1

The most convenient way to get to Vienna is by plane. There are a lot of direct flights from Russia to the Austrian capital. They are operated by such air carriers as Aeroflot, Transaero, S7, Austrian Airlines, Fly Niki (Austrian low-cost airline), etc. Depending on the airline, booking time and service class, a ticket will cost an average of 49 to 740 euros excluding fees.

It is optimal to choose the best flight option in terms of price and quality using specialized sites, then compare the selected option with the price directly on the carrier's website. If a connecting flight seems more affordable, take into account the total travel time, including the pause between connecting flights, which can last for a very long time.

Step 2

You can also get to the capital of Austria by train number 21 Moscow-Prague, which includes a direct direct train Moscow-Vienna. It runs daily, passes through Belarus, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Travel time is a little over 32 hours. From the Russian capital, the train departs at 22:34 from the Belorussky railway station, from Vienna - at 22:08 local time.

A 1st class ticket will cost 219.5 euros, round trip - 430.6 euros, in the second - 176, 3 one way and 336, 2 euros round trip.

It will be much more profitable to take this train only to Prague and continue the journey by bus from the Florenc bus station.

Step 3

By car, you can travel from Russia to Vienna via Ukraine and Slovakia. The route is as follows: from Moscow along the Kiev highway, from Kiev to Uzhgorod, where you cross the border, then through the border crossing and then drive across Slovakia to the Austrian border.

Alternative options by car are also possible: via Belarus and Poland, then - Slovakia, Czech Republic or Germany, depending on preferences. The roads along the way are better than Ukrainian ones, but gasoline is also more expensive in Europe.

Step 4

If you combine different transfers by land transport, you get the most budget-friendly route to Vienna from Russia. For example, you can get by train to the Ukrainian Chop, from where trains run in the morning and in the evening to the first Slovak station Cierna nad Tisou, then get to Bratislava and from there to Vienna by train or bus.

Or another option: take a train to the Ukrainian Uzhgorod, where buses run from the bus station to the Slovak cities of Michalovce and Kosice all day long. Then you can go by bus or train to Bratislava and from there to Vienna.

Step 5

Direct river service on the Danube connects Vienna with Bratislava, so those who love water travel can also sail to Vienna from Budapest with a transfer in Bratislava.

But I must say that this is more a tourist attraction than a means of transportation. Traveling between these cities by train or bus will be much cheaper.

You can view the schedule and ticket prices on the carriers' websites: www.lod.sk (Bratislava - Budapest, Bratislava - Vienna and back, only this information is in Slovak) and https://www.twincityliner.com (Bratislava - Vienna and back, online booking is possible, there is an English version).
