The pink Palacio Forsch can be seen on Rashtauradores Square, which is located just north of Rossio. The large Edward VII Park runs along the hillside north of Rotunda. The unusual Praça do Comercio square can be admired on the Tagus promenade. There is also a monument to Jose I, it is from here that almost all excursions around the city begin. The famous Arch, decorated with statues of famous people and bas-reliefs, is considered to be the symbol of Lisbon. The arch connects Rue Augusta with Commerce Square.
Jeronimos Monastery is the most unusual structure of Lisbon architecture. The pantheon of the monastery houses the tombs of the famous Vasco da Gama, King Manuel I and the poet Camões. In front of the monastery there is an unusual park in which a monument to the Discoverers was erected.
Another symbol of Lisbon is the Belém Tower, previously it was a lighthouse and a watch post. Belém Street will lead to the Belém Palace, where the residence of the President of the Republic, the original Carriage Museum and the former royal arenas are located. From here you can see the statue of Christ and the longest bridge among the cities of Europe - "Bridge of April 25" (2278 meters).
The city is filled with various parks, numerous museums, among which the Museum of Portuguese Art of the XIX-XX centuries (Museum do Chiado), the Museum of Ceramics, the Ethnographic Museum, the Museum of Modern Art and others can be noted. At the University of Lisbon in the Botanical Gardens, a butterfly nursery was opened, the first in Europe. All species of Lepidoptera from the Iberian Peninsula are collected there.
