Panama is a country in Central America that is known more for its offshores than tourist attractions. Yes, this is not the most popular country for tourists, but, nevertheless, there is something to see here.

Panama City

One or two days can be allotted to explore the city. There is nothing particularly remarkable here, but you can walk around the old town, Casco Viejo and admire the skyscrapers from the other side. Go to see the Panama Canal. In the business center, you can walk along the main street with hotels, restaurants and casinos - Via Argentina.

Be careful when choosing a hotel! It is important to choose it in a safe area, ideally in a business center. After sunset, the safest way to get around is by taxi, especially since it costs about 2-3 dollars around the city. The metro in Panama City is modern and clean, so you can use this mode of transport during the day.

Bocas del Torro

This is the most popular beach destination - a group of islands in the Caribbean. To travel from Panama City by bus, you need to change in the city of David, then from the village of Almirante take a boat to the main island of Colon. The whole journey takes at least twelve hours, so it is better to make a stop somewhere: in David, Boquete, Santiago or Chitra.

The largest island, Colon, has a large selection of more or less inexpensive hotels, there are also many cafes and restaurants, nightclubs. An hour's drive from the main city (Bocas Town) is the famous beach with many starfish. From the pier, you can catch a water taxi boat for a small fee to the nearest islands: Carinero and Bastimento. And also book an excursion to all the islands of the archipelago.

Boquete and Baru Volcano

Another center of attraction for travelers is this small town in the mountains. It is good to rest here for a few days, breathe in the mountain air and enjoy the coolness. You can go to coffee plantations or to the foot of the volcano. On the Baru volcano itself, you need to start climbing at night, for 5-6 hours, in order to see two oceans at dawn: the Atlantic and the Pacific.

Surfing beaches in the Pacific

Perhaps the most beautiful beach is Venado, which can be reached from the village of Pedasi. But the hotels there are quite expensive and the infrastructure is poorly developed. There are also surfing beaches near the town of San Carlos and in general along the entire Pacific coast.
