This state does not include only the Midway Islands. The island of Hawaii consists of 7 volcanoes, the largest of which, Manua Loa, is the largest active volcano on Earth. The archipelago is also home to the most active volcano, Kilauea, which has been erupting continuously since 1983.
The islands were first discovered by James Cook at the end of the 18th century, when they were called the Sandwich Islands.
The Hawaiian archipelago consists of 24 islands, the total area of which is more than 28 thousand square kilometers. 8 of the islands are large, the rest are much smaller, many of them appeared on reefs and corals. They speak in Hawaii, as in the United States, in English, but there is also an ancient Hawaiian language, words from which are still bypassed by local residents. The temperature in Hawaii does not drop below 15 degrees Celsius, even during the coldest months - January and February. In winter, the islands experience heavy rains. From May to October, during the local summer, the air temperature is 30 ° C above zero. However, from June to November, the possibility of getting into a hurricane is high. Although the winds crash into the water and rarely hit the islands hard, strong gusts are possible at the highest points of the islands.
