The Temple of All Religions, or as the inhabitants of Kazan call it - the Ecumenical Temple, is a project of Ildar Khanov, who is considered here to be blessed in the best sense of this concept. The building symbolizes the symbiosis and unity of all religious trends, it is equally interesting for tourists from Russia and guests from other countries of the world.
Not far from the city of Kazan, in a small village on the banks of the Volga, there is the Temple of All Religions. This is not a museum or a church, it is a unique complex that includes both Orthodox and Catholic churches, a Chinese pagoda, mosques of Muslim and Buddhist types, an Israeli synagogue, and an altar of already defunct denominations. The temple of all religions is visible from the capital of Tatarstan; passengers of ships and trains passing along the Volga can admire it from the nearby Russian Railways branch.
History of the creation of the Temple of all religions
Even the history of the creation of the Temple of All Religions, one of the main attractions of Tatarstan, is amazing - it was erected, practically, on the site of the house where its creator grew up. Ildar Khanov, the author of the project, its patron was born and raised in the suburb of Kazan, the village of Old Arakchino, and it was in house number 4, at the address that is currently listed as official for the Ecumenical Temple. The life of this man is unusually rich and interesting, he received several professions, is rightfully considered an excellent writer, poet, architect, traveler. It was his travels around the world that inspired him to build the Temple of All Religions.
In the house where Ildar Khanov grew up, there is now a museum named after him, where you can get acquainted not only with facts from the life of this unique person, but also look at sketches of his drawings of the future temple, maps with notes about his travels and many other documents.
The construction of the Ecumenical Temple began in 1994 and continues to this day. The author of the project died back in 2013, but his brother and sister, Ilgiz and Flyura, successfully continue the work of his life.

The exact address of the Temple of All Religions (the Temple of Seven Religions or the Ecumenical Temple) is house number 4, the village of Old Arakchino, Tatarstan. Despite the fact that neither at the beginning of construction, nor at the moment the project has support from federal representations of cultural associations, it is actively developing. Mass events of various types are held on its territory:
- lectures on ancient culture and all directions of religions,
- puppet shows and musical performances,
- complex group and single excursions.
The creator of the Temple of All Religions planned to equip a center on its territory to help patients with drug addiction and alcoholism, but at the moment this part of the project is frozen. However, this does not mean that the followers of Ildar Khanov completely abandoned him. Part of the funds received from excursions and activities goes to the "piggy bank" of the future rehabilitation center.
You can get to the Temple of All Religions from Kazan by public transport - buses 2 or 45, to the stop "At the crossing". If possible, you can go by personal transport or taxi - the path will run along the Arakchinskoe highway and will take 10-20 minutes, since there are practically no traffic jams in this direction.
