Many sanatoriums offer excursion trips to visitors. Therefore, choose a sanatorium in the region, which, in addition to medical, is also a tourist one. In Russia alone, there are many of them. Caucasian Mineral Waters, Crimea, Krasnodar Territory … the list, in fact, can be continued for a very, very long time. If you are lucky and you are going to a sanatorium abroad, then your opportunities to broaden your horizons are completely inexhaustible.
In our minds, the process of health recovery is traditionally associated with blues, melancholy, boredom. Even in sanatoriums, many do not find employment, believing, in the words of a literary character, “- We lead a rather prosaic life, those who drink water in the morning are sluggish, like all sick people, and those who drink wine in the evening are unbearable, like all healthy people."
But it doesn't have to be that way. Many sanatoriums are located in regions full of attractions, both natural and man-made. Others can boast at least a beautiful view from the window. Imagine: you wake up, the sun shines through the window, you open it - and you see a blue lake between the hills, and on the horizon - a thin strip of the Adriatic Sea. An idyllic picture, isn't it?
It is said that a person's state of mind affects their health. And what, better than a beautiful view, can provide peace and joy? Hard to say.
But if just a beautiful view is not enough for you, choose a sanatorium in the region, which, in addition to medical, is also a tourist one. There are many of them in Russia alone. Caucasian Mineral Waters, Crimea, Krasnodar Territory … the list, in fact, can be continued for a very, very long time.
Let's take Crimea as an example. Crimea is Sevastopol, Simferopol, Yalta, Feodosia, Evpatoria, Sudak, Balaklava, Koktebel, Bakhchisarai, Kerch … Even if you spend one day in each of these cities, this is almost half of the spa treatment. The only problem is that each of these cities has so many attractions that you will only be able to see a small part of it in a day. To list and describe, even briefly, every place worth visiting in Crimea, you will have to write not an article, but a whole book.
While resting in a sanatorium in Crimea, be sure to take several excursion trips - the impressions that you get as a result will not soon be erased from your memory. If you love nature, visit Mount Ai-Petri. The mountain itself and the views that open from its slopes have inspired people for many centuries. There is an observation deck above one of the cliffs, from which you can see the entire coastline from Ayu-Dag to Mount Koshka. In the mountain itself there are many wells, caves and mines, some of which are open to tourists. Finally, having risen to a height of more than a kilometer, you can take a cable car down to the very coast of the Black Sea.
While in Crimea, try to see waterfalls - few things in the world can compare with them in beauty. The Uchan-Su waterfall, which is located not far from Yalta, is almost 100 meters high - you can admire it endlessly, listening to the roar of the stream breaking down from the height.
Natural caves located in the Crimea deserve special mention. In total, more than 800 caves are known on the peninsula, of which 50 are natural monuments. The Marble Cave is located on the lower plateau of Chatyr-Dag Mountain. When you get into it, you involuntarily admire what nature can create over the centuries from stone and water. Stalactites and stalagmites in the cave resemble either an intricate colonnade or a melting candle frozen in time.
If climbing mountains and descending into caves is not your style of recreation, pay attention to the monuments created by people. Perhaps the most famous man-made sight of the Crimea, its hallmark, is the Swallow's Nest castle-palace. Located on Cape Ai-Todor, on the edge of the Aurora rock, the castle seems to hover over the waves of the sea. Various exhibitions are often held in the castle, but the very view of the castle and the view that opens from the observation platforms of the castle fascinates no less than any picture.
Another masterpiece of architecture, the Livadia Palace, is located 5 kilometers from Yalta. The snow-white building, built for the royal family at the beginning of the 20th century, has witnessed many truly historical events throughout its history. It was here in 1945 that the Allied conference was held, which brought together Roosevelt, Stalin and Churchill.
Today, there is a museum on the territory of the palace, but in addition, it often hosts social and political events.
There are many places in Crimea that are worth visiting, regardless of whether you are a lover of nature, history of the Middle Ages or the Great Patriotic War. Vorontsov Palace, Balaklava, Tauric Chersonesos - these sights are known not only in Russia, but all over the world.
If you are lucky and you are going to a sanatorium abroad, then your opportunities to broaden your horizons are completely inexhaustible.
Imagine how much pleasure you can get while wandering through the narrow streets of Prague or another city in the Czech Republic, photographing the Cathedral of St. Vitus, towering over numerous towers, standing in the shade of cypresses on the Adriatic coast or looking at the ancient columns in one of the towns of Italy.
Think of a trip to a sanatorium not only as a way to improve your health, but also as a tourist trip, during which you can learn a lot. Strive to combine benefits for the body with benefits for the mind!
