The west of Turkey is washed by the Aegean Sea. It is colder than the Mediterranean, so the season starts here in mid-May and lasts until the end of September. The main resorts of the Aegean Sea are Bodrum, Marmaris and Fethiye. The beaches in these cities and their surroundings are pebbly, so the water is almost always clean and transparent. Marmaris is considered the most popular club resort in Turkey, so the main tourists of this city are young people. The city is home to many small, inexpensive three-star hotels that even students can afford. On average, spending a vacation in the resorts of Fethiye and Bodrum will cost more than relaxing on the Mediterranean coast.

The coast in the north of the country is not popular with foreign tourists. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the weather in the Black Sea resorts is rather changeable. Unlike the Mediterranean coast, where the weather is sunny almost all summer, it rains from time to time in the Black Sea resorts. On the beaches of this region, the Turks themselves most often rest, so it is on the Black Sea coast that you can learn the specifics of life in Turkey and feel the local flavor.

Istanbul - the most famous non-resort city in Turkey - is washed by two seas: Black and Marble - which are connected by the Bosphorus Strait. In the Sea of Marmara, there are the Princes' Islands, which can be reached by ferry within an hour. Istanbul residents often visit these places on summer weekends, relax on the beaches of the Sea of Marmara and enjoy the beauty of the pine forests that cover the islands.
