Ten years ago, it was possible to buy a train ticket to St. Petersburg only at the railway station ticket office or through an agency for additional money. But now there are many opportunities to buy a ticket, sometimes you don't even have to leave home for this.
Instructions
Step 1
You can still buy a ticket at the box office - this option is preferred by older people. However, this is not the most convenient way because of the queues, in addition, the cashier, as a rule, does not provide information about what trains generally follow on the day you need and cannot give the exact price until the ticket is issued. So first you have to resort to the services of a help desk or terminal, which is time-consuming.
Step 2
You can use self-service terminals, of which there are quite a few at almost any train station. To buy a ticket at the terminal, select the "Purchase a ticket" service (in addition to selling, the terminal also provides an opportunity to receive a previously paid ticket for those passengers who bought a ticket via the Internet), insert your bank card and follow the terminal prompts.
Step 3
Using bank cards such as Visa Classic, Visa Gold, Mastercard, etc., allowing you to pay for purchases via the Internet, you can purchase a ticket directly on the official website of Russian Railways www.rzd.ru, which is much more convenient.
Step 4
Register on the site. To do this, follow the "Registration" link on the main page, fill out the form that opens, and then follow the instructions on the site.
Step 5
Then use the "Buy a ticket" link in the "Passenger transportation" section. In the "From" field, enter "Moscow", in the "Where" field - "St. Petersburg". Check the box "Back" if you also need to purchase a return ticket. Indicate in the appropriate fields the date of departure from Moscow, the number of passengers and the date of return if you have chosen the "Back" option. You can also mark the time period in which you plan to leave. If you have not done this, in this case, the site will display you a list of all trains going to St. Petersburg on this day.
Step 6
Check the box that suits you according to the time of departure, arrival and travel, as well as the number of seats, click "Next". On the next page, mark the carriage - it is better to stop at the one with the most comfortable seats.
Step 7
On the next page, indicate the type of seats you need (bottom, top, side, and so on) and the numbering interval in which these seats should be located (if you do not want the system to offer you seats near the toilet). Use the carriage map on this page to find out which seats are available.
Step 8
Enter the passport details of the passengers, then click "Next".
Step 9
The next page will show the passenger details and the selected seat numbers for confirmation. If everything is correct, click "Next".
Step 10
If you select the "Back" option, you will have to go through steps 6 through 9 again, this time choosing trains from St. Petersburg. The site will display passenger data automatically.
Step 11
After placing an order, you need to pay for it. On the page of the payment system that opens, in the appropriate fields, indicate the card number, the date until which it is valid, the name and surname of the owner in Latin letters and the CVV code (indicated on the back of the card). Orders "There" and "Back" must be paid separately.
