Step 1
Try, if possible, to apply in the spring or fall. It does not matter whether you issue a passport "from scratch" or change an old one to a new one, its production time is 30 days from the date of application, but sometimes it is possible to get a passport faster if you change it during the low tourist season, and sometimes this procedure is delayed when there are a lot of people willing. Also, the period exceeds 30 days if you are applying for a replacement out of your place of residence.
Step 2
Take a coupon from the FMS or sign up for an electronic queue to replace your passport on the Internet. It is convenient to make an appointment first, and only then take up the collection of documents, usually it does not take much time. You will need the following papers.
Step 3
Application form, completed by hand or on a computer, in duplicate. If you are filling out the questionnaire by hand, use black or blue pen and write in legible block letters. The application form must be stamped at the place of work or study. Pensioners and unemployed are not required to certify the application form.
Step 4
Passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation and photocopies of all significant pages.
Step 5
State fee receipt, paid. This document, according to the law of the Russian Federation, is not mandatory, but the FMS requires a receipt.
Step 6
If the passport of the old model, then you will need 2 photographs 3, 5 x 4, 5 cm, black and white or color. Pictures must be taken on matte paper. For a biometric passport, photographs are not needed: the picture will be taken at the time of application.
Step 7
Employment book or an extract from it, containing information for the last 10 years. Students need to attach a certificate from the dean's office.
Step 8
For those liable for military service, you need to attach a certificate from the military registration and enlistment office that in the near and present time the person is not subject to conscription. If you have a military ID, then you need to attach it. It must contain the marks "limitedly fit for military service" or "not fit", or it must contain information that the person has already served in the army.
Step 9
Old foreign passport, even if it has expired. The FMS staff will familiarize themselves with it and make a copy, if necessary.
Step 10
Come to the FMS at the right time, hand over all the documents. You will be informed when your passport is ready. If you signed up on the Internet, you will also be notified of the readiness of your passport electronically.
Step 11
Show up at the specified time for a new passport. To pick it up, do not forget to take your passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation with you.
