Gatchina is one of the brilliant suburbs of St. Petersburg, a former suburban imperial residence, and now a cultural and educational center of the Leningrad region. Tourists, both Russian and foreign, tend to come here to see the famous Gatchina palace and park, and get acquainted with the historical center of the city, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Step 1
You can get to Gatchina by electric trains departing from the Baltic railway station (Baltiyskaya metro station) along two parallel railway lines: Luga and Baltic. Preferred are the electric trains of the Baltic direction - they follow to the station Gatchina - Baltiyskaya: it is located next to the Gatchina Palace (it will take no more than 10 minutes to walk from the station). On the trains of the Luga branch, you can get to the station Gatchina - Varshavskaya and walk to the palace through the park.
The way from the Baltic station to Gatchina will take about an hour. The interval of movement of electric trains is on average 35-40 minutes, but the schedule includes "windows" lasting 2-3 hours. Therefore, when planning a trip, it is better to familiarize yourself with the train schedule in advance.
All electric trains going to Gatchina also pass through the Leninsky Prospekt railway station (Leninsky Prospekt metro station).
Step 2
You can also get to Gatchina by ground public transport: by bus or by fixed-route taxi. Their final stop is at Moskovskaya Square (Moskovskaya metro station). Routes 18 and 100 follow to Gatchina. The interval of movement on each route is from 30 minutes. If there are no traffic jams, you will get to Gatchina in about an hour.
Step 3
From the metro station "Prospect Veteranov" to Gatchina there is a bus number 631, the travel time is also about an hour, the interval of movement is 15-20 minutes.
